Dopey Doris

Plot

Doris Dayton was Assistant  Secretary of the Hartes Sports Club which got its name from the initials of the games it played, Valerie Smythe , was Secretary of the club, but she left Doris to do all the work. As a result, Doris usually muddled things up and earned the nickname, Dopey Doris.

The Computer Wore Pigtails / Electra the Sister with the Transistors

Plot

Young Sally Gleade was given the job of “sister” to Transy, the first computer to look and act like a twelve-year-old schoolgirl. The experiment was being conducted by I.T.M.—Imperial Transistor Machines—for whom Sally’s father worked. Sally had to feed Transy with special plastic programmes to enable her to take port in the various activities at Leewood School.

The Great Big World of Minnie Hopper

Plot

Whem fourteen-year-old Minnie Hopper accidentally spoiled the Wambashi African Dancers’ stage act, Banshena, the troupe’s witch doctor, put a spell on Minnie. Banshena’s spell made Minnie shrink to a height of only nine inches! Minnie followed the troupe to ask Banshena to reverse the spell, but when the life of one of the dancers was threatened, they went into hiding at a secret address.

Baby Went Too!

Plot

When Barbara Bunting’s mother went into hospital, Barbara had to look after her baby brother. It seemed as if she would have to give up the scholarship she had won to Chalford School for Girls, but Miss Worthey, the Headmistress, allowed Barbara to take Baby Bunting along to school with her—on condition, that Baby did not interfere with schoolwork.

Plot

Rosie Roberts, a newly-qualified district nurse on the Scottish island of Cabarskay, was surprised when her ” transport ” turned out to be a Highland pony called Mac. Rosie also found that she was expected to undertake all sorts of other duties.

Tiny Tim

Plot

Tim, a circus pony, was  accidentally sold while on loan to a friend. He ended up in the hands of scrap merchant Snatcher Smith—and Tim uncovered a rare picture, hidden among junk, that brought wealth to his cruel master. For several days, Snatcher Smith did no work. It, was clear that he intended to enjoy his new-found wealth.

We Belong Together

Plot

In 1859, when four year old Mary Baxter’s little sister, Emmy, was adopted from the orphanage, she took with her their rag doll Dotty, made for them by their mother shortly before her death. Eight years later, street urchin, Mary became scullery maid to the wealthy Boothroyds. She then discovered their daughter Emmeline had a doll just like Dotty and she begin to suspect she was actually her sister.
