Rosie Russell helps backstage at the Raton Repertory Theatre. It is haunted by the ghosts of two Victorian actresses, and only Rosie can see them. They are prone to feuding, which causes trouble. Sometimes they agree – which causes even more trouble. But they have their uses too.
Ellie Mae and her sister Sally Jane are bringing two buckets of Yellermelon spring water to their Granny Tickle, who is dying to drink it. But Ellie’s cousins, the McNaughtys, are trying to stop them because they want Granny to leave her fortune to them.

Susannah and Lindsey learn that in feudal times, the Lowes were serfs to the Merediths. Pretending to be friendly, Susannah gives Lindsey a ring of slavery that the Merediths forced the Lowes to wear when they were serfs to them. Her plan is that the ring will make Lindsey her slave.
Tracy Baker lives at the Grotto, where her widowed mother is housekeeper. Mrs Baker’s employers, the Howes, keep their invalid niece Sara a prisoner, but she and Tracy secretly become friends. Then Tracy and her mother overhear the Howes plotting to murder Sara.
Listed as a Spellbound story. There is something strange about Mill Cottage, or “Cat’s Eye Cottage” as the locals call it. Nobody ever rents it for long. The Bailey family rent it for a short holiday. Strange things begin to happen, which are connected with Dad’s paintings, and a mysterious cat shows up.

Cindy Smith is the daughter of a Cockney scrap merchant. Cindy agrees to switch identities with Princess Melba of Astolia, who fears her father’s enemies are out to kidnap her. Cindy is aware this means putting herself in danger from the kidnappers, and it is not long before the danger strikes.
Alison Cooper is staying with a distant relative, “Aunt” Moira Hewitt. Alison finds the house creepy and Aunt Moira is behaving strangely, in that she has banned Alison from the beach in front of the house and won’t say why. Alison disobeys orders to rescue a baby seal, which she has kept hidden and named Flippers. But a well-meaning photographer takes a photograph of Alison and Flippers on the beach, and Alison’s secret is in danger when he pushes the best shot through the mail slot.
Jenny Mortimer is an expert fencer. Her father has been training her, but he is forced to go on the run when he is charged with fraud at the bank where he is manager. He is trying to prove his innocence while finding ways to continue help Jenny with her fencing. But the police are watching the family and trying to flush Mr Mortimer out with tactics such as freezing his assets.
