Trapped in Time!

Plot

Jan and Hilary Exton had been exploring the countryside through which their canal narrow boat was passing, when they took a short-cut – when they found themselves 200 years in the past, when Britain’s’ canals were being built. They were mistaken for boys and ordered to work on the construction of the canals.

Plot

Plot:

Carol Parker and Alice Redfern were totally different girls, but their mothers had been very close friends when they were young. When they found out their daughters were going to the same boarding school they assumed the girls would be close friends too. Unfortunately the girls couldn’t stand each other and when the Head tries to bring them together, it was like trying to mix oil and water!

The Baby-Snatchers

Plot:

Joyce Marsh had made the dreadful discovery that her employers, the Herrings were  ‘cribbers’ – people who bought and sold stolen babies. The Herrings were also her family’s landlords, and Joyce’s father had forbidden her to go to the police in case they were thrown out into the streets. Joyce tried to reunite the babies with their parents without making the Herrings suspicious of her.

The Waters of Wonderlea

Plot

Fourteen year old Ellie Garvin and her younger sister Sarah, lived at Hackthorn Orphanage. One day Sarah fell and injured her back and the doctors said she would never walk again. Ellie blamed herself for the accident and when a travelling doctor told her of the healing waters of Wonderlea, she decided she must take Sarah and find this mysterious place. The secret of the waters was kept by seven keepers.

The Fortune Hunters

Plot

In the 1920s, Molly a young girl from New York, was hired to accompany 15 year old orphan Susan Latimer to meet her grandmother, Lady Windmarch, in Britain. But then another Susan Latimer appeared also claiming to be Lady Windmarch’s  granddaughter. Neither girl really cared for the old woman and actually caused her more distress with their squabbling and rivalry.

Plot

A former pupil of  Rockhaven Village School had left money  to keep the school from being closed on the condition that the pupils formed a local sea and mountain rescue team. Senior girls Kathy Davies and Gwen Jones had been appointed as team leaders.

The Courage of Crippled Clara

Plot

Mary Jordon had made friends with Clara Thornton, the frail, crippled daughter of the village squire. Clara begged Mary to teach  her how to ride a pony and Mary reluctantly agreed. But when the villagers find out, they react badly towards Mary.

Maisie Mercury

Plot:

Maisie Mercury was banished from the School of Gods to Earth because she was badly behaved. She was set a number of tasks by Jupiter, the chief god. She was doing well , but she didn’t realise her school teacher, Somnus,  was trying to sabotage her efforts so that she wouldn’t return to his classroom.  She returns in  other stories where she is put in charge of new wishing well,  and another time a crystal ball, but again a rival tries to strip her of her post.
