Miss Crane and her assistant Miss Leslie run a holiday school set up in a field under a tent, and is known as the School Under Canvas. The girls of Tent 5, including Patsy, Janet and Jackie, have many adventures at the school.
Someone was trying to drive Gina Brown and her mother from their guesthouse at Meadow Mill. Julie Jackson was sure the man responsible was Henry Arnold who was staying at the Mill as a guest, and pretending to be their friend but was actually causing trouble for them. Mr Arnold had found out a new road was to be built near by which would bring new business to the isolated guest house and planned to take it over.
Carina, the gentle princess, leader of the Kindu tribe in Africa, was carried into the jungle by two natives who had orders from Zongu, a war-loving witch-doctor, to kill her. The natives could – not bring themselves to kill her, however, and they left her alone in a distant part of the jungle. There Carina was found by Leyla, a mysterious white girl who had an amazing command over the wild animals. She promised to help Carina.
Monah-Panong-Took-I-Nah came from the wilds of Baffinland to be educated at the exclusive Badley College for Girls in England. Little Mo, was very popular with most of the girls,but two snobs, Cynthia and Iris, hated the girl and wanted to have her expelled along with her pet seal Woolu.

Winnie Woods is tasked with being a watchdog on Carla Carstairs, a spoiled girl who is on the brink of being expelled from St Wogan’s for misbehaviour. In return, Carla’s father, Sir Horace Carstairs, funds Winnie’s schooling at St Wogan’s. But Winnie finds that being Carla’s watchdog, keeping her out of trouble and foiling her schemes comes at her own expense.

Jungle Jane built an ark to rescue animals which were stranded in the huge lake formed by a new hydro-electric dam.
One stormy night a baby girl was left on the doorstep of a caravan in Colrain’s Circus. She was brought up by cruel Clem Sykes and his wife, under the name of Janet Sykes. Twelve years later, Janet made friends with Sonia Petrov, a trapeze artiste who had recently joined the circus. Janet didn’t know that Sonia was her real mother, who had come back to try to make amends for what she had done!
Val Gibson, a young orphan, was delighted when Mrs Laverne, head of the Laverne Dancing Troupe invited her to join the Troupe and become her foster mother. As she had not been a foster parent before, Mrs Laverne was to have Val for a probationary period first.
Annie Oakley, the young sharpshooter and her friend, Tom Palmer, took the chance while working on a cotton farm to lead the children in a runaway escape from the cruel treatment they received at the County Home. The County Home officials set out on the trail were the runaways with tracker dogs and they were helped in their task when they heard Annie shooting game to feed the hungry children.
Lesley Vashli, daughter of a top Polish scientist, was on the run from the Germans, who had conquered her country in 1939. The Germans were determined to capture young Lesley, for she had the secret plans of a new aero engine hidden in the stem of her pogo stick. The Germons managed to gain possession of the pogo stick, but helped by members of the Polish Underground Movement, Lesley rescued it from German Headquarters in the town of Estrowa and fled with it.
