Butch, Cass and the Sunshine Kid

Plot

In 1871, the Western outlaws, Butch Bailey and Cass Dalton, made the worst mistake of their error-filled careers when they kidnapped orphan Kathy Morgan, mistaking her for a millionaire’s daughter. Kathy liked the idea of being a bandit and called herself the Sunshine Kid. Now Butch and  Cass couldn’t get rid of her.

Wild and Free

Plot

Midnight, a jet-black colt, lived in the Cumberland hills with Silver, a mare who had mothered him after his own mother was captured. Jenny Kelso, a shepherd’s daughter, had saved Midnight from serious injury when he was trapped by his leg, but the pony couldn’t forgive her for shutting him in an isolated sheep shelter on the moor. It was necessary to do so because two men, Jim Taylor and Sam Holmes, were trying to capture Midnight to sell him.

The Tests of Terry

Plot

Terry Maxwell, a pupil at Blacktoun Secondary  Modern School, lived with her Aunt Hilda and had become interested in the Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Award. But Dusty Merton and Teddie Barnes, two tough girls at the same school, were determined to prevent Terry from winning the award and staff members of the school weren’t encouraging either.

Plot

Susan Steele was a brilliant schoolgirl athlete and a member of her senior county team. But Susan’s real love was embroidery and she was secretly helping her grandmother make a special tapestry to mark the 500th anniversary of their town, Hillbury.

“My Sister is a Monkey!” / The Tennis Chimp

Plot

Cherry Marsden was helping her Professor father with an unusual experiment—bringing up Julie, a baby chimp, as a human baby.

Julie returns in sequel The Tennis Chimp. Cherry and her father move to a new town and Cherry joins a tennis club. But she doesn’t have a partner for the doubles tournament. So she partners with Julie, but some club members dislike the idea of a chimp entering the championship, and Mrs Hawkins in particular is out to stop them.

Toni and the Time Trigger

Plot

Toni Stacy and her father had inherited the large house in which Toni’s great  Uncle Joshua had lived as a recluse and, to afford its upkeep, they were running it as a museum. Max Smiter, a crooked businessman, wanted to build a gambling club on the site and was determined to get rid of the Stacys and the museum. But Toni was helped by a strange gadget, the amazing Time Trigger, which had been given to her by a visitor from space named Zargot.

The Living Lie of Laura Hurst

Plot

While on her way to live with relatives she had never met, Laura Hurst, a rich young Victorian girl, was killed in a coach accident. Her maid Martha Ford, decided to take her place in order to give her sick young sister a home. While aunt Maria welcomed “Laura” into her home, cousin Nigel was less happy and was suspicious of her.

The Star of Eshtar

Plot

Esther Reynold’s father traveling in the Middle East, sent her a pendant known as the Star of Esthar. The pendant had been lost for over 2000 years, to Esther’s horror after receiving it she dreams she is a high priestess in Ancient Assyria ordering the sacrifice of her own father. Then her father disappeared, so her and her brother, Mike, went to look for him

Little Miss Nobody

Plot

A girl with amnesia is befriended by Charlie and Elsie Arnett, a cunning couple, who had tricked her into to thinking she was Kathy, the grand daughter of  near blind Miss Mannering. The real Kathy was presumed drowned years before, and the Arnetts wanted to collect the reward for her return.
