Jumping Jenny

Plot:

Against her father’s advice, Jenny Holland has taken a job with Burt Finney, an American horse-breeder. She is to school some of his young horses, including Rocky, her own colt, which her father forced her to sell. On arrival at Ridge Farm in the United States, she is given a chilly reception by Burt’s sister-in-law, Ada Finney, and his niece, Marsha.

Rough Rider Ruth

Plot:

Ruth Jordan, an expert with  horses, lives on a farm in Kentucky, where her father, Red Jordan, breeds horses and trains others for special purposes. A film studio has sent a horse, Star, for training, but mysterious attempts are made to harm the horse, and Ruth is attacked. Ruth thinks that her own horse, Queen, will be able to pick out the attacker, but just after suggesting this to her father Queen collapses.

Rocky – The Wild One

Plot:

Young Joan Trench has at last achieved her dream of owning her own pony. Rocky, a young moorland pony, is high-spirited, but Joan is determined to train him to be a good show jumper. In his first show Rocky jumps well, but, at the last jump two dogs upset his concentration and Joan has to be content with second place.

Vicki

Plot:

Vicki Andrews and her two friends, Ted and Pam, are looking after Wallingston Riding School, whose owner, Mr Hodge, has recently bought a greengrocer’s shop and now has little time or money to spend on the stables. Two property buyers, Mr Snudge and Mr Sykes, are interested in buying the stables in order to build on the land. Despite this threat, Vicki and her friends have gained some new pupils and are entered for a forth-coming gymkhana. The only cloud in Vicki’s life is that her own horse, Prince, has injured himself.

Runaway Rhona

Plot

When Rhona Lockhart’s widowed mother marries Gervase Power, a wealthy landowner who is passionately interested in horses. Rhona is expected to become a competent rider. Rhona loves horses, but she lost her nerve after a bad fall when she was young and now she is terrified to ride. Because of this. Rhona runs away from home and joins a travelling circus—only to be given a job as a bare-back rider! To her surprise, Rhona discovers that she is not afraid while riding bare-back, because she is free to leap on and off the horse. She makes splendid progress and the circus-owner decides she is ready to perform in public. Unknown to Rhona, her stepsister, Charlotte, has reported seeing her near the circus ground, and Mr Power arrives with Rhona’s mother and Charlotte just as Rhona comes on.

Katy’s Casebook

Plot:

Katy Simmonds is a girl-groom at the Whitefriars Farm Rest Home for Horses. Her employer, Mrs Charteris, rescues sick or aged horses, ponies and donkeys and, with Katy’s help; nurses them back to health. When they are fit enough, they go to new homes to make way for fresh patients. One of Katy’s responsibilities is to make sure their new owners give them the love and care they need.Katy's Casebook

Riding School Rivals

Plot:

Margie (or Mandy in the reprint) Hayman and Molly Lentham were joint partners in a riding school which they had opened at Hunter Green’s Stables, in the Cotswold village of Mountly. Their school had come into direct  competition with a nearby Riding Academy, a very grand establishment run by Miss Lila Williams who had been involved in several attempts to make the girls close down.
