Plot

Jean Douglas and Myrna Lewis, fourth formers at Herondale Boarding School are returning after breaking bounds one night, when Jean sees a strange flash in the sky. The Golden Cradle

Plot:

Placed under hypnosis to restore her lost  memory, young Jean Lightfoot continues the amazing account of her previous life as Princess Tana-lohi, who lived fifteen thousand years ago in the now submerged land of Mu.

On Tana-lohi’s 15th birthday, Mu is invaded by Vedh, a highly-developed race from another planet, and her parents are killed. Tana-lohi is spared, and pledges herself to free her enslaved people with the help of the priest, Noni, who has escaped to safety.

Strangers

Plot:

When Mrs Devere, a scientist, moves into Raven’s End (a large house), Rachel Grant finds her a dragon and unfriendly woman who seems to hold her daughter Laura a virtual prisoner. Mrs Devere suddenly becomes friendly to Rachel’s classmates, and soon after they start behaving as if they are brainwashed, acting like strangers, and do nothing but study. It gets worse when Mrs Devere gets a teaching job at Rachel’s school. Then Rachel discovers that Mrs Devere was sacked from her previous school for strange, unethical teaching methods – and Laura is not her daughter.

The Sound of Fear [1967]

Plot

Government experts are investigating a fantastic noise which, from time to time, strikes Tatany Heights School. One of the experts, Mr Tenby, claims that the noise is caused by low-flying jet planes, but his companion, Mr Mountjoy, goes to investigate the downs near the school, where Pat Sims and Anne Dennis have seen weirdly-dressed figures. When Pat and Anne go to warn Mr Mountjoy that Mr Tenby is impatient to leave, he vanishes before their eyes. sound of fear

Hard Mercy

Plot

Mercy Green is stricken with a tropical fever and finds herself in an alternate London where life is hard and so are the people. This is because they are ruled and tyrannised by gangs of criminals known as “The Families” in a fascist jack-booted manner.

When the Robots Rebelled

Plot

Sheila Saxon is kidnapped by a strange spacecraft and taken to the planet Micron, where robots called Micrids are threatening to destroy the survivors of the Micronian race. The Micrids are unable to detect Sheila’s presence as her body vibrations are different from the Micronians; so she volunteers to enter the Micrids’ factory and steal an atomic power cell, without which the robots are harmless. On the way to the factory, Sheila meets a Micrid —and it is able to detect her!

What Happened to Hannah?

Plot

Schoolgirl, Hannah Knight, of Brianscourt Boarding School, is in the power of sinister Professor Vaslav, who has a dematerialisation machine that can transfer living creatures from one place to another. With this amazing machine, he has even made Hannah pass through solid walls! Hannah is unaware that she is being used for experiments, as the professor uses a special lamp to hypnotise her. Hannah’s friend, Sue Sheldon, suspects the professor and, when Hannah disappears from the dormitory, Sue cycles to the professor’s house.
